One of the questions I get asked the most is how I’ve kept my blonde hair ashy over the last couple of months, so I thought I would share my lockdown hair care must haves. I can’t take full credit though it’s also down to my colourist who is incredible! I don’t know how he does it but it always lasts ages and grows out naturally without a harsh root line. I would definitely recommend splurging when seeing a colourist as it means you end up saving money in the long run as you don’t need to go so frequently. I am worried about sharing the love for Ryan to much though as I don’t want to struggle getting an appointment with him after lockdown!! – read Ryan’s “Take 5” here
Loreal professionnel Series Expert Silver Shampoo – This is my go to for purple shampoo, I will use this one a couple of times a week and always rebuy. I find that this dark purple shampoo neutralises any brassy tones and doesn’t dry my hair out
Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 – This amazing miracle product seriously works and I feel an instant difference after using it. I tend to use once, sometimes twice a week, it is without a doubt worth the money and I am soooo happy they have just released a larger sized bottle
Rita Hazan New York – I have been raving about her products for years but do not know many people that use them! The shampoo and conditioner not only leave your hair soft and shiny but also have the most amazing smell! The weekly remedy treatment is a game changer!!
I am a huge fan of leave in conditioners and masks to deeply nourish hair but have struggled over the years to find products that don’t leave my hair greasy. Three that I love are –
Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair which is a leave in mask for strength and moisture
It’s a 10 miracle leave in conditioner, they also do a blonde version which is what I use
Loreal Professionnel UV filter and Aloe Vera Solar Sublime a conditioning spray that also protects against sun damage. The Shampoo and mask in this range are the products I would take on holiday, I managed to keep my hair in great condition while on my mums boat for 2 weeks with endless sun and salty sea water damage thanks to these!
Aveda Damage Remedy – As someone who colours their hair and uses heated tools a lot this range is perfect at repairing damage. I suffered with super dry and broken hair at the beginning of the year and these products and Olaplex sorted it out and completely brought it back to health.
Always always use a heat protection spray, make sure it is protective up to 250 degrees and that it is for thermal use which means it can be used with heated tools not just hair dryers. I love the GHD Heat Protect Spray which also give protection against sun damage!
Color Wow Dream Filter Treatment – This is an amazing pre shampoo product which removes minerals from your hair! It really does help to prolong your colour and stop those brassy tones.
Larry King Flyaway with me Kit – This is such a cool product, I always used to spray hairspray onto a tooth brush to get rid of my fly aways but this has a much better result!
Moroccanoil Treatment Light – I have loved this product for years and still reach for it when I get out the shower, it is also another holiday favourite and I will take a mini bottle with me when traveling, it’s great at restoring shine! I always go for the light version as I have fine hair.
Silk Hair Wrap – This is a new thing for me but it is a game changer, wear it to bed and you will stop overnight breakage that happens when you toss and turn. A silk pillow case has the same effect, it just depends what you prefer, hair wraps are great as you can wear a mask underneath for an intense treatment.
I could continue but don’t want to overload you with information, I have added further products below and if you have any questions please do let me know, you can email me firstname.lastname@example.org or DM on Instagram
