Dressing for the party season with Karen Millen

The Christmas season is upon us and on top of all the stresses of the food shop, carol concerts, present buying, wrapping…the list is endless, we all have that added pressure of planning the killer Christmas party outfit. So when Karen Millen enlisted me to style a few looks to help give you all some inspiration and dress me for my own office christmas party I jumped at the chance.

Karen Millen have always been one of my favourite shopping destinations ever since my mum bought me a stunningly made tailored coat when I was 17, I loved that coat and felt so good every time someone asked me where it was from. Fast forward quite a few years (too many than i’d like to admit) and not only do I still have that coat but my love affair with Karen Millen is still going strong.

I couldn’t talk about festive dressing and not add some luxe fabrics, velvet is my favourite and will always make an appearance as early as October. If you invest in the perfect suit not only can you wear the whole look for full on party glam but switch it up and add a pair of jeans with the blazer and you are ready for a christmas drink in your local or a lunch with the girls!

How can you resist this show stopping velvet pyjama suit which is now in the sale! It is the ultimate in comfort but without losing any of the glam, The jacket comes with the fringed waist tye which I would add for the evening and remove for a casual daytime look. The wide legged trousers are very flattering and if you order them online they are true to size.

Jacket – was £299, now £199
Trousers – was £199, now £130
Silk Cami – was £99, now £65
Satin Court Shoes – was £99, now £65
Suede Frill Bag – was £110, now £55

Now this coat is the cosiest and softest of all the fluffy coats I have tried on this year and this colour is just a wow piece, I do love a statement faux fur. There are so many on the high street but this one definitely has the luxury edge, you won’t believe how soft it is! I didn’t want to take it off and a few of the team may have stroked me a few times! Another versatile piece which could easily be dressed up or down.

Luxury Blue Faux fur Coat – £299

I wanted to add a slightly more casual choice as not all Christmas parties are a cocktail dress affair, this dress was a dream to wear and the boots were made for it. This is a style I would usually go for as I love something floaty especially when i’m consuming all the mince pies! It nips in perfectly at the waist and the stud detail adds a slight rocky edge.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the boots, they are worth the investment as the quality is outstanding. Grey suede, leather lined and the perfect height block heel.  I could live in a pair of boots like this!

Botanical Flower Print Dress – £190
Suede Over The Knee Boots – £395

When picking the look for my office party I want it be as festive as possible, so a vibrant red and luxurious velvet ticks all the boxes. This shade is stunning, one that you have to see in the flesh. The small details added to this piece make it perfect for the dancefloor including the hidden elastic in the shoulder so it doesn’t slip down.

I will wear this again and again, Christmas and New Year! I have a little moto which has served me well for many occasions, if in doubt, wear red!!

The boots are surprisingly comfortable, I usually struggle in heels but the stretchy knitted material of these bad boys were amazing. I didn’t even change to my trainers to walk to the station and that never happens! If it’s a chilly evening you could add tights to this look which I experimented with as I was worried about the peep toe but it didn’t notice and and my toes were toasty.

Velvet Bandeau Dress – £170
Knitted Peep Toe Shoe Boots – was £165, now £110
Italian Wool Mix Coat – £350
