This week I went on a little road trip with my blogging buddy Emma from S.A.S.H. We headed up to Northamptonshire to explore the new shopping destination Rushden Lakes. It is a stunning complex, set around a tranquil lake offering not just shopping but restaurants and sporting activities making it a great day out for everyone.
The journey took 1.5 hours from Essex and was a pretty straight forward drive. We chatted and sang along to Christmas tunes so it felt like we were there in no time at all. On route stop off for a quick photo in the picturesque village of Olney, it was a real chocolate box town. Emma and I said that if we visit again we would make the night of it, a cute B&B followed by a day of shopping at Rushden!
Our first stop upon arrival was at Bills for lunch, we were shown to our lake view table by their extremely attentive staff. We felt so relaxed I think we spent 2 hours giggling and chatting over a glass of wine!
There are so any great stores on the site including House of Fraser, H&M, New Look, River Island, Joules, Marks & Spencers, Jigsaw, Superdry and Primark just to name a few, for a full list click here.
We spent most of our time in House of Fraser as we were desperate to check out the Deciem counter to stock up on The Ordinary skincare products, this brand is not only a cult beauty buy but would also make a fab stocking filler, the maximum price for this rage is £6! I treated myself to a foundation, hyaluronic Acid and Retinol. They also had their big brand event on so most items were reduced by up to 40%. Emma made more of an investment purchase and splurged on a Ralph Lauren leather tote, it was stunning and only £135!
The centre is set around the stunning lake which is absolutely breathtaking, you can pop into the Nene Wetland centre and pick up all the information you need before setting off on a walk or cycle around the valley. I wish we could have done this but it was a beautiful but freezing day and typically we forgot our coats!! When the weather warms up you can also hire kayaks and explore the water, my boys would love this and it’s on the list for our next visit. For full information of what’s on offer click here, there will more coming soon as the centre expands and should be finished in the next 18 months, there will also be a cinema, climbing wall and more restaurants.
